The Toronto Region is home to advanced computing capacity, high-speed dark fibre networks, and a growing base of hardware and semiconductor development programs. Together, these assets power large-scale training, real-time data movement, and next-generation product development.

YorkNet is a York Region-owned corporation delivering government-funded infrastructure to connect communities with reliable, high-speed internet. Through the construction and operation of a high-speed dark fibre network, YorkNet is creating equitable access to broadband across the region.

HPC4Health is a consortium of health providers who are working together to build the next-generation of compute engine for clinical research.From genomics to medical imaging, almost every discipline in health-care is dealing with a "Data Deluge" of information. Translating this into something that will ultimately benefit patients requires massive amounts of computation and storage in an environment that is fast, secure, and run with efficiency.

Compute Ontario (CO) works with the Ministry of Colleges, Universities, Research Excellence and Security (MCURES) to plan, secure and oversee provincial investments in DRI and bring strategic alignment to the activities of provincially funded DRI providers.

SciNet is the supercomputer centre at the  University of Toronto, hosting Trillium, one of the fastest supercomputers in Canada. SciNet provides Canadian researchers with computational resources and expertise necessary to perform their research on scales not previously possible in Canada.

TorIX was started from a need in the technical community to keep local data traffic local. When Canadian traffic flowed through the United States, the latency and costs associated with this model needed improvement. A group of experts from different organizations came together to create Toronto’s first not for profit internet exchange, TorIX.With over 250 organizations connected, TorIX peers have access to direct routes from many diverse peering partners. Using TorIX allows for reliable exchange of traffic with increased routing control and improved performance.

ventureLAB’s Hardware Catalyst Initiative (HCI) is a dedicated program for companies developing hardware and semiconductor-focused products. HCI expedites time to market, enabling companies to compete locally and globally. HCI is Canada’s only incubator of hardware and semiconductors.
